Green Construction & Initiatives
Prindle Hill Construction is an eco-friendly and environmentally conscience company in every sense of the word. Our main office is working toward 100% green operation as we recycle all materials possible in and out of the office as well as support supplier exercising similar practices.
One of Prindle Hill's primary focuses is in the restoration and remediation of environmental impacted sites. We offer a suite of comprehensive services executed by team of experienced professionals in the environmental field. We aim to leave a positive impact on the environment with every job.
Prindle Hill Construction has extensive capabilities and experience in the remediation of contaminated and environmentally impaired sites, as well as clean up and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
Our full range of remediation services extends from straight forward excavating and removal of contaminates to the use of state of the art technology needed for research and analytics with the goal of providing the best solution for our clients and the environment.
We practice Green remediation which is the practice of considering all environmental effects of remedy implementation and incorporating options to minimize the environmental footprints of cleanup actions.
We use energy efficient ENERGY STAR equipment and supplies whenever possible and construct ENERGY STAR certified pre-engineered limited access steel structures. Our buildings are approved by or comply with:
Top Ten Environmentally Friendly Practices We Implement Throughout Prindle Hill Construction
- Turn off equipment when it's not being used. This can reduce the energy used by 25 percent; turning off the computers at the end of the day can save an additional 50 percent.
- Encourage communications by email. Read email messages onscreen to determine whether or not to print them. If it's not, don't!
- Reduce fax-related paper waste. Use a fax-modem and by using a fax cover sheet only when necessary. Fax-modems allow documents to be sent directly from a computer, without requiring a printed hard copy.
- Produce double-sided documents whenever possible.
- Do not leave taps dripping. Close taps tightly after use and replace worn washers. (One drop wasted per second wastes 10,000 litres per year.)
- Install displacement toilet dams in toilet reservoirs. Placing one or two plastic containers filled with stones (not bricks) in the toilet's reservoir will displace about 4 litres of water per flush, a huge reduction of water use over the course of a year.
- Find a supply of paper with maximum available recycled content.
- Choose suppliers who take back packaging for reuse.
- Instigate an ongoing search for eco-friendly products and services in the local community. The further your supplies or service providers have to travel, the more energy will be used to get them to you.
- Refurbish office furniture. Before deciding whether you need to purchase new office furniture, see if your existing office furniture can be refurbished. It's less expensive than buying new and better for the environment.
